Dr Baladji Kalband
Dr Balaji Kalband is a Neurologist with over 16 years of experience in clinical neurology and neurophysiology.
Besides stroke and general neurology, his special interests and expertise include epilepsy and seizure disorders including clinical diagnosis, EEGs and long-term pharmacotherapy, headache management including diagnosis and pharmacotherapy with emphasis on prevention of migraine, Botox therapy for migraine and related disorders, neurophysiology and management of neuropathic pain including carpal tunnel syndrome, diabetic neuropathy, trigeminal neuralgia among others.
A polyglot, highly regarded by peers, patients and students alike for the approachable, affable personality and flair for pragmatic approach to clinical neurology and neurologic teaching.
Dr. Kalband’s contribution extends beyond Australia. He has voluntarily established free epilepsy clinics across Fiji, bringing neurological care to hundreds of patients who had never before seen a specialist. His work has been recognised by patients, doctors, hospitals, and health authorities in Fiji as a landmark humanitarian effort.
Dr Kalband has plans to expand similar services to other Pacific Island Countries such as Tonga, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, and the Cook Islands. Dr Kalband's vision is to ensure that no patient in the Pacific remains without access to expert neurological care for epilepsy.
